An Honest Showdown
This post is dedicated to one of the latest bands that I dig, An Honest Mistake.
Kevin, Darren Teh, Leowazza, Eve Oh.
..who were the finalists for the Accoustic Showdown Finals last Wednesday.
I was invited by Leowazza (guitarist), along with other friends to come and support them for the group category.
Yvonne, Thong Kai, Grace, Leowazza, Boon Ken & Baldwin Chua.
This guy has so many supporters la. Call only they come like an army xD
Venue : Urbanattic…
….home of many new bands and probably the only happening place in Capsquare Mall haha.
That night was a battle between not only the group category, but also the solo category. This is Darren Teh, the hero who went solo. At the same time, he’s also the frontman for AHM.

The sor lou solo battle has begun!
While they were playing on stage, we were playing on da floor!
It wasn’t exactly a neck-to-neck fight, yet it wasn’t easy to tell who would win. Each contestant of course had his/her own supporters, and had their own charisma with the audience. Something told me that it would be a close fight between the top 2 (guy with shades and Darren).
Surprisingly, the winner turned out to be…
…George Wong.
I guessed wrong. Maybe I’m biased xD But he had a huge supporter gang ok, regardless of skill (or looks).
Our Darren terpaksalah tepuk tangan although his face looked like a bag of sour grapes.
But he still had one hope. With An Honest Mistake (AHM) in the group category.
The battle was fierce and close. I really couldn’t tell which way the crowd was heading, through the outstanding performance of all three bands.
I could tell though, that these two were crazy close to each other.
This guy’s vocals were incredibly good, hitting high while keeping it under control. A truly emo singer accompanied by his equally talented guitarist. Although I couldn’t understand why his electric guitar was allowed (it’s Accoustic Showdown wei), they would have done equally well with an accoustic.
While AHM really kept the crowd going while belting out two of their original songs. It’s called……ok i don’t know, cos the song names are unbelievably long. I don’t know why.
But they rock!
While we rocks the floor too!
Leo’s group of supporters…besides May-Fern in black, I didn’t get to know the others. So it’s a Random Supporter shot woo!

Ginger, Adeline Leowazza’s cupcake, Jazz. Ginger & Jazz are from Penang who came one day for support! Kudos to them!
You may know Yvonne Sim who happens to be one of the calendar girls of Lust Magazine.

I was shocked to see the difference! Can you see the surprise in my face LOL.
And this is Baldwin Leo’s bro whom I chat with almost everyday and finally get to berborak with in real life. This two bros are full of crap real fun people hehe.
Now …. the moment of truth.
WHO WILL RISE TO BE THE CHAMPION OF THE WORLD!! *big booming voice dramatic lol*

AN HONEST MISTAKE!
I could feeeeeeel the tension amongst the band during the counting of votes. What An Honest Relief when their win was announced..! =)
With RM1,500 in hand, studio recording would be possible.
With this win, ANYTHING’s possible man

oh! during the performance i felt that either darren or guy with shades would win. so i was surprised that george did. i felt that he didn’t impress, either in the songs or in showmanship.. what do u think?

I don’t like what you are implying at all with this statement. Supporters are there for a reason – they enjoy the music played by the musician and want to listen to it. If he had a large gang of supporters then surely he deserved what he got.
Making snide comments about his skill – and looks for that matter – is entirely inappropriate and unnecessary.

Like Alvin says above, I’m entitled to my opinion, which i stated in an honest and unbiased fashion. I believe my comment was moderate already.
If you read it again, you’ll note that it was written in positive light. There must be a reason for his supporters, just that I couldn’t see it on stage, that’s all. My humble opinion
what’s your take on his performance?

KL nowadays so happening! omg gone are the days i used to go for indie gigs la performances la art events la this la that la now i just want to stay in, cook, watch old movies or anime, read books. i wonder what i’d be like in 5 years considering i act like i’m retired already -__-
